Photography on Canvas

All of the first class photographs you can find on this website can be reproduced by the photographer onto canvas. In addition, if you have any photographs of your own that you would like to be printed onto canvas John can also help you with that.

Having seen our two wonderful children grow and begin to independently follow their own paths, my wife Erica and I were given the chance to combine our shared love of medicine and travel and to work in some rather out of the way, exotic and very scenic places.

Since 2003 we have worked on many island locations including Christmas Island, Cocos (Keeling) Islands, Rottnest Island, and King Island in Bass Strait. In 2005 we took the opportunity to travel and work in Tasmania (a photographer's dream!) and then to drive home the long way around - via the eastern seaboard up to ‘The Daintree’ and beyond, across to Darwin, and then back to Perth via the Kimberley - with the camera smoking most of the way.

In turn this provided the ideal opportunity to develop and expand an interest in photography, moving from a record of our travels and vacations to an interest in panoramic photography, portraiture and more recently wildlife photography.

As there was no framing service on King Island I started a commercial printing and framing service of my own. Once back in Perth I purchased a ‘professional' printer, allowing me to print onto canvas.

Of course, as always with photography the challenge is in finding the ideal composure of the ideal subject, in the ideal light. Without doubt, though, it is the last of these which truly allows a great photo, as good light can miraculously turn the ordinary into the extraordinary.
